Clay columns can call the Four/Four OData API to enrich rows with conversation, insight, account and contact data. You create one reusable connection in Clay using credentials generated in Four/Four. The API is read-only; to load your own CRM records, see the CRM import API article. You need a Clay account that allows HTTP API columns and a Four/Four workspace with an active plan.
Set up
In Four/Four go to Settings > Connections and scroll to Data services.
On the Clay card, click Connect. The "Connecting Clay" window shows the values you need, each with a copy button.
In Clay go to Settings > Connections and choose Add connection, then HTTP API with JWT Auth.
Enter the values from Four/Four, as in the table below.
When you add an HTTP API with JWT authentication column to a table, set Location of JWT token in Auth Response to token.
Point the column at the Four/Four API address you want to call, such as one of the tables in the OData API reference.
Clay field | Value |
Name your key | four-four |
Username | Your Four/Four email address |
Password | The token shown in the window |
JWT Token Endpoint | The address shown in the window |
Limits and tokens
Requests are limited to 600 per minute per user, which matters for large tables. Slow the table down if you see "Too many requests".
The token is valid for one year. Each time you open the Clay window a new token named "Clay" is created under Settings > Connections > Access tokens > Personal tokens. Revoke ones you no longer use.
Troubleshooting
Authentication errors: check the password is the token and the JWT location is set to token.
Token expired or revoked: click Connect on the Clay card, then update the connection in Clay.
